Our Division is part of the Vetsuisse Faculty at the University of Berne, Switzerland.
The Institute of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (VPI) has 4 primary responsibilities and/or goals:
(1) Perform the teaching in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology at the Vetsuisse faculty.
(2) Maintain an active research program in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology with a focus on cytochrome P450 enzyme-dependent metabolism of analgesics and anesthetics, GI tract pharmacology and effects of non-ionizing radiation ranging from molecular and cellular levels to whole animals.
(3) Coordinate the clinical studies at the faculty of veterinary medicine as they pertain to the pharmacology and toxicology of agents and drugs with potential for becoming new therapeutic tools in the clinic.
(4) Provide support for clinical studies at the faculty and conduct analytical investigations, pharmacokinetic studies and dose-response analyses in collaboration with other investigators.
Our laboratories are based on the 2nd. floor, the offices are located on the 3rd. floor of Länggassstrasse 124, 3012 Bern.
